YOU CAN QUOTE THIS New York City-based Quotable recently released its latest mug line, bringing four fresh inspirational quotations to consumers. The mugs feature the 10-year-old company's minimalist design and words of wisdom from writers H. Jackson Brown Jr. and Vivian Greene. The products have a suggested retail price of $10.95, and wholesale buying is available through Quotable's Web site. 212/420-7552. quotablecards.com FROM THEIR PHONE TO YOUR POS At September's Coffee Fest Seattle, POS provider Coffee Shop Manager launched its Version 3.0 product. The update integrates mobile ordering, online ordering and self- serve ordering kiosks into the CSM system. The mobile ordering app is branded for each coffee shop, and it's compatible with iPhones as well as Android devices. "With these new customer-facing technologies, coffee shops can provide a new level of convenience," says Larry O'Connor, director of product develop- ment for Coffee Shop Manager. Coffee Shop Manager is owned by Texas-based Granbury Restaurant Solutions. 866/447-0033. coffeeshopmanager.com ONE MORE BREWER FOR THE COUNTER Sowden, a company run by noted Italian designer George Sowden, has developed a brewing product that essentially takes the press out of the French press. The SoftBrew device contains a glass chamber inside a pitcher-like vessel. Coffee grounds are placed inside and stirred, then poured out into a cup, passing through a stainless-steel "micro filter" en route. The resulting drink is said to have a full body and "controlled sedi- ment." The SoftBrew line has two models: one for coffee and another for tea. 877/474-0454. sowden.co KEEPING IT BOTTLED UP Austin, Texas-based Chameleon Cold-Brew recently began expand- ing into grocery and other retail establishments in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, New York and several other Mid-Atlantic states. The bottled beverage (available in 16- and 32-ounce sizes) is made with fair- trade-certified coffee and is cold brewed for more than 16 hours. The expansion involves distribution partnerships with United Natural Foods and Labatt Food Service, and it puts the product in a number of Whole Foods Market, Wegmans and MOM's Organic Market locations. chame- leoncoldbrew.com continued on page 62 freshcup.com November 2012 61
