Also, Pascal equipped SalesVu with technology that encrypts swiped card data before transmitting it, a feature that addresses the security concerns many hold when it comes to mobile processing. Not surprisingly, most of SalesVu's customers are mobile busi- nesses such as coffee kiosks, food trucks and caterers. But Pascal says SalesVu's sales have doubled each month since its launch, and many of those customers are in brick-and-mortar businesses. And as a business owner himself—albeit one with an unusual background among coffee slingers—Pascal feels lucky to be both creator and beneficiary of the technology. "We started in a market that was pretty mature—there's a lot of competition out there for point-of-sale for cafés," he says. "Our original intent was to revolutionize that industry from the cloud perspective, and then we saw that it would be more efficient if we made it mobile.
