The product is made from 60 percent biodegradable materials such as wood pulp and 40 percent polyethylene that is accompanied by an additive designed to allow the plastic to break down in five to 10 years (thus creat- ing less environmental impact than normal polyethylene). The company says it spent two years developing the Biotre product and consulted with industry players to veri- fy that it protects and preserves coffee. 800/562-2247. pacificbag.com ADVENTURE BLEND Colorado tea company Two Leaves and a Bud recently announced an initia- tive to donate 1 percent of annual sales from its Alpine Berry tea sachets to the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), an organization that teaches outdoor skills and leadership. The partnership is one that makes sense for the tea sup- plier, which is headquartered in the Rocky Mountains and whose founder and CEO, Richard Rosenfeld, is a former NOLS instructor. "We believe in the importance of quality outdoor adventures," Rosenfeld said in a release. "Being able to support NOLS is an honor for us, as we understand the unique impact NOLS has on allowing people to appreciate the wilderness." The Alpine Berry product brings together hibiscus, blackberry and citrus flavors. 866/631-7973. twoleavesandabud.com ALDER WOOD ANNIVERSARY Caffe D'arte, a Seattle-based roaster that recently celebrated its 25th year in business, has begun marketing the Alderwood Roasted Coffee line.
