COUNTER INTELLIGENCE continued from page 61 BY-THE-CUP INNOVATION Smallwares company NotNeutral is continuing its partnership with Intelligentsia Coffee, recently launching a line of drip brewers called Gino. The first product in the line is a glass pour-over device that's made for use with the company's Lino mug. The dripper is made from two layers of borosilicate glass and is designed with insulation in mind. In addition, the interior of the cone features three drip holes and a calculated angle that helps water move through the coffee bed in an optimal manner. 323/785-1800. notneutralcoffee.com 20 YEARS OF AIRING IT OUT Kansas City, Mo.-based roaster The Roasterie is celebrating two decades in specialty coffee with a 20th Anniversary Platinum blend. The offering mixes coffee from four of the world's leading production areas—Costa Rica, Brazil, Kenya and Indonesia—to create a beverage defined by brightness and sweet candy. And the blend is just one of the ways the company is marking its longevity: Last September, The Roasterie lowered a DC-3 aircraft onto the roof of its headquarters. The move was a nod to the brand's air-roasting production style. 800/376-0245. theroasterie.com CAN YOUR LID DO THIS? A California-based manufacturing company called Simply Lids has designed a disposable cup lid that features a unique hole placement to allow for more aroma-filled sipping as well as a sliding tab that covers the hole and can prevent splashing while the cup is being transported. The aim is to make the experience similar to drinking out of a traditional mug but with the convenience and safety benefits of a lid. The sliding tab also can be outfitted with logos or images for brand awareness. 760/497-5448. simplylids.com FEELING FRUITY The Gavina roasting brand is bringing back its Blueberry Coffee, a medium roast that's accented by fruit flavor and is designed for both hot and cold service.
